The Nine
The Enneagram Type Nine
I am a non-judgmental and accepting sort of person and people generally see me as good company and easy to be around. Others tend to appreciate my ability to see many different sides of an issue – things are rarely black and white to me. I am a good listener and people say they can count on me for being calm, stable and centred - I'm good at smoothing things over and defusing conflict. I have an accommodating, receptive nature and I enjoy pleasing others. That does mean, however, that my needs and desires seem to get lost or ignored. Mostly I’m OK with this but sometimes it makes me angry and frustrated inside, but I don’t express it.
I value a peaceful and harmonious life style and try to keep it comfortable and familiar. It helps me to have structure and routine so that most things are predictable and stay the same. If I get pressured to be more decisive or to change, I just dig my heels in and get on my way. I can be quite stubborn if, rather than asking, some–one tries to tell me what to do.
Being too indecisive and placid annoys some people, I know, but I would rather give someone their way than create a scene. It’s my opinion that confrontation doesn’t generally solve anything - it just creates pain and discomfort. I rarely get openly angry– if anger comes up it gets pushed down again
